And the fun starts this Saturday...

It is that time of year again for us…….. the start of the Farmers' Market season.  And this Saturday we will be at Midtown Farmers' Market for their opening day.

We will have truffles, brigadeiros, Crack Bars and of course Brew Chews.  Since it is the day before Easter we will have limited quantities of our Easter Bunnies.  If you can't make it to the Farmers' Market, you can always catch us later that day at BottleMixx on Strickland and Creedmoor Rd.

Made our Pistachio Brigaderio's with really dark chocolate.  The chocolate has no sugar, so the sweetness in the candy comes from the Pistachio liquor.  They turned out really good but be warned, they are not very sweet.  On the other hand, if it is something sweet that you crave, then our Apple Pie truffle will definitely be something you should try made with organic ceylon cinnamon which is naturally sweet and pure apple juice.  One of my favorites is our Lemon Brigadeiro, it reminds me of a slice of Lemon Meringue pie…… yum.  If it is something hot and sour that you want, the I'd recommend our Crack Bars.  They have a groupie following all of their own and rightly so,  they are that addictive, made with passionfruit caramel, cayenne, chipotle and rice krispies.

Well I hope we've wet your appetite.  Come see us Saturday and Happy Easter.

April happenings

It's that time of year again… Spring.  For GerDan it is the start of the Farmers' Market and Raleigh Beer month… yahoo!  Good news, we will be at two Farmers' markets this year as guest vendors - Midtown Farmers' Market once a month and the Downtown Raleigh Farmers's Market on various dates throughout their season.

MFM starts on Saturday April 19 and we will be there on their  opening day and the 1st Saturday thereafter.   That just happens to be the day before Easter so if you can't make it to Midtown to pick up your chocolate bunny, you can always catch us at BottleMixx the same day from 2 until 5.

On Saturday April 26  we are so happy to be part of Brewgaloo again.  Craving Brew Chews made with NC Beers?  Well then, stop by our booth and get one.

Finally to the end of April on the last day Wednesday 30th, Downtown Raleigh Farmers' Market are having a Pig Pickin' to kick of the start of their season and we will be there on that day.

Hoping to see you at one of these days in April.

So then, what is a Brigadeiro?

We get asked this a lot, "What is a Brigadeiro ?"  It is a Brazilian truffle made with condensed milk, chocolate and butter.  Sounds simple, yes?  But is it oh soooooo good.

Our most popular flavor is Pistachio.  The Brigadeiro is soft and creamy and silky on the inside and then you have the crunch from the chopped up pistachios on the outside…. delicious.
How can something so simple be so good?  I don't know but they are.

Happy New Year and here is to a great 2014

We had a great time visiting family and friends over the holidays.  Enjoyed a lot of west coast beers and  made some Brew Chews for the family to enjoy.

Drank Rum that some breweries are now distilling.  Got a private tour of AleSmith Brewery which was a lot of fun and enjoyed sampling their beers in their tasting room.  It was a great holiday.
Now we're back in NC……. have to get back into the swing of things and start thinking about the next holiday coming up which is Valentines Day.  Oh well, no rest for the wicked.
